Things you must know

1. Why four different color dots/symbols are present at the bottom of newspaper?

Harshit-hada1

Those colors are called CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) the base colors for all colors used in printing. Basically any color can be obtained by using these in correct proportions.

If the images are somehow blurry and not crisp enough, you will find the colors overlapping or not in the same line.

You may not know the exact number of newspapers that are printed daily, physically checking all the pages of the paper is not possible. For a printer who has been doing this for years, knows what an apt CMYK looks like. If there is anything off, they will be able to spot it. So basically it serves as “printer’s marker”.

4. Why Judges after passing a death sentence break the nib of their pen?

Harshit-hada-5

Considering a humanist approach the Judiciary tries its best to not award death sentence since the laws are supposed to create a deterrence and not abhorrence for laws in the society by awarding any kind of punishment.

Since the time of British Raj, the custom of breaking the nib after awarding a death sentence has been followed by Indian Judges.

The practice is symbolic of the belief that a pen which is used to take away a person’s life should not be used ever again for other purposes. In other words, the pen has tasted ‘blood’, and thus it needs to be broken so that it doesn’t take another life.

Judges have no power to review/revoke the judgement or order once it has been written and signed. Therefore the nib is also broken so that the judge may not think of reviewing his own judgement.

To express his compulsions for passing a death sentence, under the compelling circumstances and to ensure that nobody ever commits such heinous offence which invites such social stigma to the offender.

Facebook, one of the most popular social sites, have gone through a lot of changes in past, yet the only thing to remain same is its color, “blue”.

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook is color-blind, which he came to know after creating Facebook.

Colour blind as a person does not mean a person who may only have the ability to see white and black, but the person have difficulty in distinguishing some specific colors.

For Mark, it is Red and Green, it’s tough for him to distinguish between them.

According to Mark, the color of blue denotes justice, loyalty, confidence and sense of responsibility, security and dependability amongst people.

It is part of their well-planned Marketing plan. Most colors distract and make the human eye focus on them while blue act as a transparent palette for 65% of time spending watching the main background aka index space. Their choice makes their competitors envy most of the time.

In addition, it is considered as a traditionally masculine color, so it’s no surprise that it also evokes ties to the corporate world.
